TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa morning news anchor was arrested Sunday, accused of battering a pregnant woman, according to Tampa Police.

According to police, officers responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute at the home of WFLA news anchor Marco Villarreal, 37, on Sunday, March 24.

Officers said they spoke to the victim at the home and observed that she was "very upset" and crying while they spoke to her. She did not show any visible injuries and denied needing medical attention. 

Officers also spoke to and took statements from two children at the home.

Villarreal was not at the house at the time of the officer's response. He met them at the house after they contacted him via his cell phone, at which time he reportedly declined to complete a written statement regarding the case and was arrested.

Villarreal was charged with aggravated battery. He is being held on $7,500 bail.

No further information has been released.
