TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — A suspect faces several charges after Tarpon Springs police said he illegally entered a home and was found asleep.

  • Matthew Weyh, 30, placed in Pinellas County Jail
  • He was found sleeping alone in a child's bed
  • Police said "he entered the victim's home assuming it was his relatives"

Matthew Weyh, 30, was taken into custody.

Officers responded Thursday morning to the 1700 block of Coppertree Drive after a burglary report.

The home's occupant found Weyh asleep alone in a children's bed.

When confronted, Weyh yelled at the occupant and went back to sleep. Police were then called, and they said Weyh eventually had to be tased and removed.

"The suspect does have a family member who resides in the area and it appears that he entered the victim's home assuming it was his relatives," Tarpon Springs Police said in a news release.

Weyh was charged with trespass in a structure, resisting an officer without violence and 2 counts of violation of probation.

He was placed in the Pinellas County Jail.
