ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A St. Petersburg family will be sleeping under a brand new roof tonight, thanks to a neighbor nominating them for the "No Roof Left Behind" program.

  • The Wandtrats win the 'No Roof Left Behind' program
  • Family got a brand new roof after roof was damaged by Hurricane Irma
  • The family's neighbor nominated them for the program

Arry's Roofing Services installed the roof on Saturday, after the Wandstrat family received the most votes.

The Wandstrats are the 11th family to receive a new roof from Arry's Roofing Services.

“I wish I had a bigger word for thank you, because it doesn’t seem like enough," said Jennifer Wandstrat, the mother of four children who received the new roof.

She has been living inside her St. Petersburg home with a damaged roof since Hurricane Irma hit in 2017. They ran into some financial troubles and couldn't replace it. Then in December 2018, her husband passed away suddenly.

“We always made decisions together; so this, even picking out the shingles, was difficult," said Wandstrat.

Robin Harris lives next door to the Wandstrats. She nominated the family for the new roof.

On Saturday, the family celebrated with neighbors as the roof was installed. Mauro's Air Conditioning and Heating also donated a new air conditioning to the family and Bozarth Contractors will help them with any new windows or doors they may need.

Now the Wandstrats can start their next chapter in their revamped home.

The next "No Roof Left Behind" contest will be held next spring.
