LARGO, Fla. — An arrest has been made in a shooting that left two women critically injured Tuesday night in Largo.

  • Kenneth Prince arrested and charged with attempted murder

According to Largo Police, the shooting occurred just before 9 p.m. at the Whispering Palms apartment complex near 16th Avenue and Seminole Boulevard.

Police have arrested Kenneth James Prince, 39, and charged him with three counts of attempted murder in the first degree.

Officials said Prince shot two women and shot at a man, who was not injured. The women, whose identities have not been released, were transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries.

Residents react to shooting

Residents said police put the complex on lockdown, even keeping some of them out of their apartments. Some of the residents said they were shocked and that their neighborhood is usually very quiet.

"She just called us and she told us hysterically that she heard two shots and another neighbor from the side," said resident Ricardo Penalvert. "She looked out and she said she saw a person laying down on the floor in front of her apartment which is on the first floor this apparently happened on the second floor." 

Investigators have not released any further information.
