TAMPA, Fla. — Three teenagers were arrested for a break-in at the Tampa Police Impound Lot.  

  • Three teens arrested after break-in
  • One defendant was caught by a K-9
  • Officers say they obtained a confession

Someone reported a burglary in-progress at the lot Friday morning and authorities responded.

The area was secured by District three units while a K-9 tracked the defendants into the wooded area of McKay Bay Park.

The K-9 latched onto one defendant while the other two fled, but they were later caught by the surrounding units.

A 14-year-old, 15-year-old, and an 18-year-old currently face seven charges including possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief and trespassing. We are not naming them because of our crime guidelines.

The defendant latched by the K-9 had to seek medical treatment, but was transferred to the Juvenile Assessment Center once he was medically cleared.

Officers conducted a post Miranda interview with another defendant and obtained a confession.
