SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. — Father’s Day is this weekend and this year Americans are expected to spend more than ever in honor of their dads.

The National Retail Federation predicts Americans will spend a record $16 billion on gifts for dad, with the average person expected to spend about $139. Other studies show that 45 percent of dads want something unique.

So how is this money being spent?

Statistics claim the most popular gift is a greeting card, followed by some sort of special outing.

Clothing came in third place, followed by gift cards, then books and movies.
