TAMPA BAY, Fla. — The price you pay at the pump is changing again and it's partly because of ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran.

  • Gas prices increased again
  • U.S and Iran tensions affect the gas prices
  • President Trump "will defend and protect our country"

Since president trump increased sanctions on Iran, we’ve already seen gas prices go up. While AAA doesn’t expect the increase to last long, it could depend on how long tensions last.

Regardless of the current situation with Iran right now, you’re still paying less for gas right now than you were last year at this time when the average price in the Tampa Bay area was $2.57 per gallon.

Last week crude oil prices went up five dollars per barrel and the AAA says it’s because of the rising tensions with Iran, among other things.

That means you’ll likely be paying 5-10 cents more per gallon.

Right now, there’s no sign that things will improve with Iran anytime soon.

Vice president Pence said that the president will defend and protect our country.

AAA says if oil prices continue to spike, then you’ll pay more for gas over the next couple of weeks but they don’t expect those increases to last all summer.
