ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Petersburg Police are searching for the driver and passenger of a stolen car that they say hit and killed a woman early Monday morning, then took off.

  • Stolen vehicle involved in fatal hit-and-run
  • Driver, passenger sought
  • Victim identified as Phelexis Robinson, 26

Phelexis Robinson, 26, was hit and killed just before 12:30 a.m. in the area of 34th Avenue and MLK Street by an Infiniti Sedan that was reported stolen out of Hillsborough County, according to St. Pete PD.

The Infiniti was speeding southbound on MLK when it hit Robinson.  Police say the driver kept going and then abandoned the car a few blocks away.  Robinson died at the scene.

"She was a beautiful, very kind young lady who went about life as happy as she could be and all the sudden this happened," said her father, Phelix Robinson.

Police said her vehicle broke down in the middle of the road. She got out of the vehicle and was hit.

"If anybody knows anything about this person, please turn them in," her father said. "Please. Let them know that we're not playing right here.  We need some justice.  Because an innocent life was taken for no reason."

Phelexis Robinson leaves behind a 6-year-old child.

The crash remains under investigation.
