CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students head back to school Monday and the district says they are ready.

Since March, the district says they have hired more than 2,100 teachers, filling almost every teacher vacancy. They say they are almost fully staffed for the 2019 school year.
In total, CMS hired more than 4,000 new employees with the help of transfers, promotions, re-hires, and new hires. As it stands now, there are 15 bus driver vacancies and 80 teacher vacancies.
CMS says there was a slight delay in the hiring process due to a licensing program, but they're still in good shape.

“We began hiring March 1, which is earlier than in previous years, and held our major spring career fair earlier as well in order to attract talent,” executive director of talent acquisition Robert Ellyson said.
