TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Mayor Jane Castor has announced all city employees will make a base pay of $15 an hour starting October 1.

The new living wage will apply to all new fulltime employees and any current employees making less than $15 an hour.  Castor said the move will cost the city an additional $70,000 a year.

The mayor said this is not only fair for workers, but also a way to build the city's workforce and resiliency.

Some of the issues she has aimed to tackle include affordable housing, transportation, and the city's workforce.
