ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A few passing showers will come through the area. Otherwise expect partly cloudy skies with an easterly breeze.

Morning lows will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Saturday will start with a mix of sun and clouds and then go mostly cloudy later in the day with some passing showers. The rain coverage will not change much from where it was for today...generally at about 40 percent. The good news is that if you get one of the showers it won’t last long as they will be moving westward quickly toward the Gulf.

Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Winds will again be breezy at times, but this is mainly due to the pressure gradient between the high pressure to the north and the lower pressure with the tropical system to our southeast. That results in a funneling of the winds from the Atlantic to the Gulf.

Sunday will be similar with partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies and another round of passing showers and storms with the coverage near 40 to 50 percent.

Highs will be in the upper 80s with a northeast breeze.

Once the tropical system passes it will actually pull drier air down into our area, dropping our rain chance for a few days next week starting Monday.
