NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A congressional subcommittee will hold a hearing on veterans and homelessness in Pasco County Monday.

The hearing will happen at 10 a.m. at the West Pasco County Government Center on Little Road in New Port Richey.

The subcommittee for the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs is holding a field hearing titled "Combatting Veteran Homelessness in the Tampa Bay area."

According to 2018 statistics from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, the number of homeless veterans are falling faster than elsewhere in the country.

Congressmembers will look at what best practices are being used in the Tampa Bay area, and look for ways to apply those tactics to all VA programs.

Florida congressmen Gus Bilirakis and Greg Steube both serve on the committee.
