HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Clearwater police officer who found the body of Felecia Williams in 2014 is expected to take the stand again Wednesday.

Today is day 8 of the Granville Ritchie murder trial. Ritchie is accused of raping and killing the 9-year-old girl on May 16, 2014.

During today's testimony, jurors will hear for the first time what Ritchie told police after Williams was killed.  This comes after the first three days of testimony where jurors heard from police, Williams' mother, and the woman who left Williams along with Ritchie, Eboni Wiley

Jurors also heard from Detective Kerri Spaulding. She talked about scratches on her patrol car from trees that were on an access road that led to where Williams' body was found.

"I had scratches down the side of my driver side door. 'And do you know that was caused by the bushes?' Yes, because I had just gotten that car and it was a Dodge Charger, charcoal gray, and I was driving, I could hear like a high pitch squeal sound that you could tell that branches were scratching down my car. It was a really narrow road and the car was low so I was trying to stay on the road because if I was coming off the road I was afraid the car would bottom out," Spaulding said.

Officials say this is important because investigators said they found similar scratches on Ritchie's car, which would put him where Williams' body was found.

Investigators said they also found a suitcase in Ritchie's car with clothes in the backseat.  They believe he stuffed Williams body into that suitcase after killing her.

The trial is expected to last three weeks.  If Ritchie is found guilty he could face the death penalty.
