SPRING HILL, Fla. — The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is investigating a reported shooting near a Catholic church in Spring Hill, according to the agency.

Deputies responded to the scene located near St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church at 5030 Mariner Boulevard just before 12:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a person at the location had been shot.

When they arrived they found a man suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was treated on the scene, then transported to a nearby trauma center. He is reportedly in stable condition.

Officials said the shooting may have occurred in the parking lot of the church and the shooting does not appear to be random.

A suspect is not yet in custody. However, investigators have identified a vehicle of interest - see picture below:
