CLEARWATER, Fla. — Michael Drejka has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the shooting death of Markeis McGlockton.

Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Joseph Bulone handed down the sentence Thursday morning after hearing comments from McGlockton's mother, father and girlfriend.

Drejka could have received as much as 30 years in prison.

Drejka was found guilty in August for fatally shooting McGlockton in a Clearwater parking lot last year.

In July of 2018, Drejka confronted Markeis McGlockton's girlfriend for parking in a handicapped space while McGlockton went inside a convenience store with his 5-year-old son.

Security video recorded McGlockton leaving the store and shoving Drejka to the ground.

Seconds later, Drejka pulled out a handgun and shot the 28-year-old McGlockton as he backed away.
