Sara Schibler, 39, of Plant City is facing charges of DUI causing death, Polk County Sheriff's deputies said Sunday.

The crash happened on River Ranch Resort property near Lake Wales. Investigators say Schibler was behind the wheel, while 46-year-old Anthony Kunz was her passenger in the Honda 700 Pioneer two-seater UTV, or utility task vehicle, as it traveled on a sandy trail.

The UTV went off the trail, struck a fence, ejected Kunz, and overturned on top of him, investigators say.

Schibler told deputies she tried to pull Kunz out but couldn't.

Kunz, also of Plant City, was declared dead at the scene.

Deputies determined Schibler had been driving impaired, and she was arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail on the DUI charges.

The investigation continues.
