SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — A Brookside Middle School teacher was arrested Monday and charged with lewd and lascivious conduct, according to the Sarasota Police Department. 

  • Maxwell Guss accused of touching students inappropriately
  • Guss a business teacher at Brooksville Middle School
  • Guss also accussed of crimes at Sarasota High in 2017

Business teacher Maxwell Guss, 34, of Bradenton, is accused of touching two students at the school at the beginning of September 2019. 

Guss is also accused of inappropriately touching a student at Sarasota High in 2017 when he was an Algebra 1 teacher.  Officials said the student told school administration but it was never reported to law enforcement by the school.

Based on the investigation, detectives believe there may be more victims. 

Guss was also a teacher at Harllee Middle School and Bayshore High School in Manatee County. 

Guss has been placed on administrative leave.
