CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — While lots of people are traveling to see friends and family for Thanksgiving this week, two brothers in Citrus County are hitting the road to bring turkeys to their neighbors, all for free.

Derrick and Daylon Rogers say giving back is something they always grew up doing.

“Growing up we’ve always helped each other and then other people around us too,” Daylon said.

For Doris Hunt, their help couldn’t come at a better time. After recently moving into a mobile home, she didn’t have the money for a Thanksgiving dinner.

But she said the brothers' help is an answered prayer.

“These guys are a blessing. There are good people in the world,” Hunt said.

The turkey Derrick and Daylon delivered to Doris is just one of a handful of turkeys they’ve already delivered throughout the county.

They said they plan to keep delivering turkeys this week to anyone in need.

"I don’t think people truly understand the meaning of Thanksgiving," Daylon explained. "God put us here to show people what Thanksgiving really means."

He said to them Thanksgiving is all about helping those around them.

“Making sure everybody has that Thanksgiving dinner,” he added.

The brothers also deliver sandbags for people in need when storms come into the area.

They ask anyone in need of a turkey dinner to send them a message on Facebook
