ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Residents at the Citrus Grove Apartments in St. Petersburg got a disturbing message on their door knobs earlier this week. The notes stated that the city was planning to shut off the water to the complex next week if a more than $40,000 past due water bill wasn't paid.

Resident Cherish Murphy was more than upset.

"We don't have nothing and they just leaving us out here with nothing," Murphy said. "No water, no nothing."

While we were on the property, regional property manager Megan Tatum from management company Weller Workforce, which took over management of the complex on December 1, approached our crew and asked us to leave the property.

She eventually spoke to us on camera about the situation.

"The problem will be taken care of," Tatum said. "There will not be any water shut-off. Everything will be fine."

Officials with Weller Workforce stated in an email that the bill was left unpaid by the previous property managers, something Weller wasn't aware of until now.

Residents are hopeful but skeptical about this latest change in what they say has become a revolving door in management changes at Citrus Grove.

"I'm so confused," said tenant Samantha Harris. "I really need somebody to help, because I have a daughter, she's just 11 years old and it's so much."
