ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A benefit concert was held Friday to benefit the family of fallen sailor Mohammad “Mo” Haitham.

A Royal Saudi Air Force student shot and killed three people at Pensacola Naval Air Station on December 6. Haitham was killed, along with U.S. Naval Academy graduate Ensign Joshua Kaleb Watson, 23, and Airman Apprentice Cameron Scott Walters, 21, of Richmond Hill, Georgia.

The fundraiser is took place at Ferg's Sports Bar & Grill at 1320 Central Avenue. The concert featured François de Lima & The Romantics Band.

All of the donations will go to the family of Haitham, who was a 2018 Lakewood High School graduate. The family says they're overwhelmed by the support.

"All donations collected during this event will go directly to Mo’s family. They are hurting, we want to help” said Ferg’s owner Mark Ferguson.  “We are all connected in this community. When something like this senseless tragedy happens, it directly hits our community hard. We want to help in the best way we know how with hosting a fundraiser for the family."

Ferguson also said the event received donations from big names like former Tampa Bay Rays coach Joe Maddon. It's something Haitham's famiyl said he would have loved.

"He would be excited. He wouldn’t be surprised, because he left a legacy. Mohammad knew he was a good person. He did no wrong... I’ve never heard a bad story about Mohammad," said Ashley Williams, Haitham's cousin.

Donations can be dropped off all weekend at Ferg's.

A candle light vigil is set for Monday afternoon at Lakewood High School. Monday would've been the Haitham's 20th birthday.
