ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A Spectrum Bay News 9 viewer says his car was involved in a crash near one of the Bay's busiest malls and that the intersection itself is partially to blame.

Anthony Risk was cruising in his vintage car when his holidays took a turn for the worse.

"We were doing a little Christmas shopping in my 1979 Lincoln Town Car which I became the proud new owner of (December 23). The first car I've ever been able to call my own was heavily damaged less than 24 hours after I brought it home."

The car can't easily be repaired. Many time parts are scarce and the price to fix it can be much higher than with a late model vehicle.

The crash happened at Tyrone Boulevard north of 66th Street North in St. Petersburg. The fact that there is no traffic light adds to the danger.

It's not likely the state is going to install a traffic signal at the location. There is already one at 66th Street North and up by the movie theaters on the north end of the property.

But every car that enters the intersection has the option of four, and in some cases five, different turning motions. And knowing what the car coming toward you is going to do is just a guessing game.

It's awkward to drive through the location, to say the least.
