PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — Sue Greenberg is a pediatric nurse who not only helps sick children with medicine but also with a dose of her own creativity.

Greenberg writes children's books and her main character - a young horse named Elliott - just jumps off the pages.

A children's nurse, Greenberg has worked at Tampa General and All Children's Hospital.

But lately, she is more known for being an author and poet in celebrating her bundle of joy Elliott with "Elliott's Tails."

“He was just from right away something else,” Greenberg said. “He would always jump the little fences and I have a little ball. He would always pop all the balls. He was always a mischievous little thing.”

Her "Elliott's Tales" books, Adventures of a Baby Horse and Saddle Up for New Adventures have received the prestigious Gold Mom's Choice Award.

A third book is in the works.

Now slightly older and much larger, Greenberg often visits with Elliott.

Meanwhile, Greenberg has been busy with fundraisers to get enough books and soft Elliott plush horses to children at All Children's Hospital on Valentine's Day.

"Being a pediatric nurse, I know how nice it is when a child is sick and they can hold onto Elliott's little plush (horse) and they can read his book," she said. "He just inspires children."

Greenberg also is a 4H leader and has had readings of her books with many groups, including 4H kids and foster children.
