THURSDAY UPDATE: An arrest has been made in this case. St. Petersburg Police say Christoffer King, 36, has been arrested in Alachua County and will be charged with first-degree murder in the beating death of Scott Jenks.
He has been placed in the Alachua County Jail.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — St. Pete Police are investigating after the death of a 48-year-old man early Tuesday.

According to authorities, officials were notified just before 5 a.m. about "a man being down" in a parking lot of the Northgate Center shopping plaza at 1144 94th Ave North.
Officials said officers found the man with evidence of trauma to his body.
The victim has been identified as Scott Jenks. Detectives said Jenks was at "The Sports Bar," located in the same shopping plaza, prior to his death.
Officials are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything overnight, to call the police department at 727-893-7780.
No other information has been released.
