ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — It’s been one week since a deadly hit and run killed a St. Petersburg woman, and her family is still looking for answers.

Over 100 people attended Saniya Daxon’s funeral Saturday morning, many wearing shirts with her picture on it.

“A mother should never bury her child,” said Saniya’s mother Tina Morgan-Daxson.

Last Saturday, Saniya, 27, was on the passenger side in a Chevy Malibu.

When officials say a driver in a stolen Mercedes, hit her car, and left the scene, killing Saniya and leaving her friend in serious condition.

“I don’t want retaliation, I just want the person arrested,” Morgan-Daxson said.

Morgan-Daxson said as she lays her daughter to rest, she will not rest until the person is responsible.

“I will continue to fight. If I don’t fight for her, who will?” Morgan-Daxson said.

If you have any information on this case, you’re urged to call St. Petersburg Police at 727-893-7780.
