TAMPA, Fla. — A broken water main has shut down part of a major roadway in Tampa.

Broken pipes have closed at stretch of Columbus Drive at Himes Avenue. Westbound Columbus Drive is closed between Himes and Lincoln Avenue.

Crews started repair work on the roadway at 1 a.m. They will have to dig to the pipe to determine just how big the break in the pipe is. City officials said the work may be completed by Thursday afternoon.

The two-block stretch closed normally sees about 30,000 cars daily.

This is a developing story and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
