CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. — A German Police Officer is running across the state of Florida to raise money for families of fallen officers in Pinellas County.

Achim Dieterich traveled to Florida from his home in Germany to run for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 43 this weekend. The fund helps support families of fallen law enforcement officers in Pinellas County.

The total trip is 182 miles. Dieterich will run over the next four days and end the trip on Clearwater Beach Tuesday evening.

He plans to meet other runners at Coachman Park around 6:30 p.m. then run with them to the beach.

His mission is to raise money for families who have lost law enforcement officers in the line of duty.

“For me, it’s an honor to do that," said Dieterich.

Dieterich says he's been running for 18 years and enjoys the challenges of long journeys.
