ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rays, coming off a 2019 season that saw them make the postseason but again rank near the bottom of the league in attendance, are trying some new approaches to ticket sales.

Principal owner Stuart Sternberg said Wednesday that tickets for $12 or less will be available for about half of the team's 81 home games.

“Affordability won’t be an issue, and never should be an issue, with attending a baseball game and especially attending a Rays baseball game,” said Sternberg.

The team is offering several ticket options for fans, including a Rays Win Pack for $99. It allows fans to select any four Rays regular season home games for $99. If buyers select and attend four games that the Rays win, they will receive a voucher to choose another home game for free.

Rays Win Pack holders with four consecutive wins can continue to choose games for free until they attend a game that the Rays lose or the end of the regular season.

“We are proud to continue to offer flexible and affordable ticket options for our fans,” said Rays President Matt Silverman.

The Rays went 96-66 last season and won the AL Wild Card game before falling to the Houston Astros in the ALDS.

The team drew less than 1.2 million fans, however, which was last in the American League.

Sternberg has floated the idea of a split season with Montreal, though St. Petersburg's mayor has been critical of that plan.
