TAMPA, Fla. — Our very own ZooTampa will be featured on Nat Geo WILD’s Secrets of the Zoo series Sunday evening!

“It takes you behind the scenes, anywhere from births to emergency medical care to general and the relationships that we build [with the animals],” said animal care manager Roni Burgess.

"Secrets of the Zoo: Tampa" will shine a spotlight on the animals and the staff working tirelessly to keep them safe.

“Not only in conservation, but also our species survival plan, so you’re going to see a little bit of that," Burgess explained. "Some of the animals featured in Secrets of the Zoo that are may be engendered or threatened and some of the steps that ZooTampa is taking in order to help their species out in the wild."

After shutting down for several months due to COVID-19, the animals are happy to see new faces, especially with the renewed interest. 

“I think its good to get everybody out and experience awesome wildlife and especially during these times, everybody’s cooped inside so it’s a good experience to be able to come out,” said Kevin Lark, who visited the zoo on Sunday with his family.
