HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities are investigating an early-morning shooting along Interstate 75 Thursday that left two men dead.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the southbound I-75 exit ramp leading to MLK Boulevard just after 3 a.m. where they found two men dead in a white Nissan sedan on the side of the road. 

Troopers said the men had been shot. 

Witnesses said occupants from a white Jeep Wrangler fired multiple shots at the Nissan before leaving the scene. 

Also, officials said a possible third person that was in the Nissan left the scene and has not been located. 

The exit ramp is expected to remain closed for several hours Thursday due to the investigation.
