STATEWIDE — The Florida Department of Health announced another 5,446 coronavirus cases Tuesday and 245 deaths.

While just slightly more than the announced 4,752 cases Monday, the announced death toll jumped from 73 to 245. Some testing sites across the state were closed in recent days due to Hurricane Isaias.

The Florida Department of Health also reported 586 new hospitalizations, up from 216 announced Monday.

Among the new cases in Central Florida, Orange County led Tuesday with 213 new cases and two new deaths. Polk and Marion counties reported the most new deaths in the area with 15 and 12, respectively. Florida reported 51 new deaths in the Central Florida area from 896 new cases. 

In the Tampa area, Hillsborough County again had the most new cases, with 355, along with 21 new deaths. Pinellas County saw 173 new cases and 18 deaths. As a region, Tampa Bay had 829 new announced 1-day cases Tuesday and 64 deaths.

  • Orange County 213 cases, 2 deaths
  • Marion County 148 cases, 12 deaths
  • Osceola County 124 cases, 7 deaths
  • Polk County 94 cases, 15 deaths
  • Volusia County: 94 cases, 2 deaths
  • Semoinole County 73 cases, 1 death
  • Lake County 61 cases, 1 death
  • Brevard 52 cases, 6 deaths
  • Sumter 21 cases, 3 deaths
  • Flagler 16 cases, 2 deaths

Tampa Area New Cases and Deaths:

  • Hillsborough County: 355 cases, 21 deaths
  • Pinellas County: 173 cases, 18 deaths
  • Polk County: 94 cases, 15 deaths
  • Manatee County: 60 cases
  • Pasco County: 86 cases, 2 deaths
  • Citrus County: 27 cases, 4 deaths
  • Hernando County: 34 deaths, 4 deaths
