NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — With schools set to open in two weeks for students in Pasco County, a Land O Lakes High School is getting creative to keep students and teachers safe.

Students at Wendell Krinn Technical High School are meeting on campus Tuesday to build as many as three outdoor classrooms to help increase teaching space as well as provide an open-air environment for students.

Picnic tables will be built to accommodate students for the outdoor classrooms as well as additional cafeteria seating.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization of volunteers who build and donate bunk beds for families in need, will be helping students at Wendell Krinn construct the outdoor classrooms.

Pasco County will have strict safety guidelines as students return to class for the 20-21 school year.

Students will be required to fill out daily self health check forms, they will be required wear masks, classrooms will be sanitized daily and social distancing guidelines will be enforced wherever possible.
