PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Ashes found in a Pasco County thrift store are now back where they belong. Our story helped make that happen.

Anes Jones found the remains in a small box she bought at St. Vincent’s Thrift Store in Port Richey.

We interviewed her about it on Friday. Thanks to the power of social media, the family came forward to reporter Tim Wronka just a few days later.

“This is very emotional. Very happy that I was able to reunite them,” Jones said.

Jones met with Frances Kluxen, who came forward to claim the ashes. They met back at the store where the box was found.

The remains inside are those of her uncle Joseph Lang.

“Really happy that’s he back. It’s been a long time," Kluxen said. "Just didn’t feel complete that he wasn’t with the family."

Kluxen says the last time she saw the box it was at her aunt Mary’s house, who was Joe’s sister.

Mary passed away in 2015 and the house was evicted. Everything there was thought to be lost.

“I just kept praying. I said, ‘One day, Lord, if I’m meant to have his ashes, you’ll bring them to me.’ And the Lord answered my prayers,” Kluxen said.

Family friend John Corvino saw our story on the box being found and instantly recognized it.

“My mind was blown,” he said. “I must’ve watched it 30 times, remembering that’s the box.”

Somehow, that box ended up at St. Vincent’s in Port Richey.

Manager Sue Dupre feels it’s no coincidence.

“There’s a lot of miracles that happen in this little store. And this is one of many,” Dupre said.

Frances feels her uncle’s remains were always meant to be found by the right person.

“I feel like I’m bringing my uncle home,” Kluxen said. “Another piece of my heart is coming home.”
