Last week, Superintendent Addison Davis announced Hillsborough Schools would eliminate $45 million in it's staffing budget as a result of reduced student enrollment.

The district says the student population has dropped this year by around 3,000, and student enrollment is tied to how much the district receives in state funding.

In all, around 100 temporary teachers hired after August 14 could lose their jobs.

Another 246 current teachers are expected to be reassigned in a job pool process the district manages multiple times during the school year.

More than 400 teacher positions will be eliminated that are currently vacant.

Hillsborough Public Schools is the 8th largest public school system in the country.

It employees around 20,000 people, meaning the current cuts impact just a fraction, around 2 percent, of district employees.
