ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Incumbents easily held onto their seats in multiple Pinellas County races.

And some of those winners have big plans for their future terms.

What You Need To Know

Democrat Charlie Crist beat his opponent, Anna Paulina Luna with 53 percent of the vote for the District 13 congressional seat. This will be Rep. Crist's third term and he said veteran’s issue will be big for the next two years.

"You know we are blessed to have over 2 million veterans in the Sunshine State," Crist said. "And an awful lot are right here in Pinellas County and Tampa Bay generally protecting Social Security and Medicare, protecting this beautiful environment, climate change has to be a focus and voters rights."

But there will be one new face on the Pinellas County Commission.

Former school board and St. Pete city council member Rene Flowers will represent District 7.

She's the first African-American woman to be elected to the Pinellas Commission and said she wants to get to work for the community on the issues that matter to them the most.

"It's all about humility," Flowers said. "Sticking to the things we talked to the voters about in the community and continuing to hear their voice i look forward to pulling together a group of people to talk about the affordable housing crisis that we have."

Incumbents Charlie Justice and Janet Long both held onto their commission seats.

And Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said his re-election serves as an affirmation of all the hard work his deputies have done over the last 9 years.
