ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Eta made landfall as a tropical storm near Cedar Key, Fla. at 4:20 a.m. and the worst weather has ended as the storm moves away.
Eta's highest wind gusts topped 50 mph in some places. That's led to more than 20,000 customers without power across Florida, especially in Pinellas County.
Occasional showers and storms are possible today, along with gusty winds over 20 mph. Winds will gradually drop off as Eta continues to move farther away.
Water levels remain elevated above normal tide levels and high surf continues, causing beach erosion and flooding.
If water is covering a road or parking lot, do not drive into it. Heavy rain, as well as wave action, has caused flooding. Here are local rainfall totals so far.
