Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says the state is already recovering after a long day and night on the wet and windy side of Tropical Storm Eta. Damaging storm surge sent sea water flowing into coastal neighborhoods and onto Tampa Bay’s bridges and highways.

Now, the cleanup is underway, and DeSantis is promising support.

“We will continue to work over the next 24 hours to ensure all Floridians impacted by this storm have the resources they need to recover. Please stay safe and listen to all warnings from local safety officials,” Governor DeSantis tweeted.

He lauded the efforts of first responders, who saved dozens of people from flood waters.

DeSantis said he’s been incontact with Florida Power & Light and Duke Energy Florida, which have restored power to many of the people who were left in the dark Wednesday night.

According to the governor, additional resources are standing by should local authorities need them.
