ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Since its grand opening, the redesigned St. Petersburg Pier has been the subject of quite a bit of good local press.

Now, the stylishly modern structure and public space is joining the likes of the ‘Burg’s art and food scenes in garnering some national attention. The Pier has landed on the short list for USA Today’s 2020 10Best Readers’ Choice poll in the “Best New Attraction” category.

What You Need To Know

  • The St. Petersburg Pier is a finalist in USA Today's 10Best Readers' Choice poll

  • The Pier is in the category "Best New Attraction"

  • You can vote in the poll once a day until noon on Monday, Dec. 21

Officially opened on July 6 of this year after a seemingly interminable period public debate, controversial designs and eventual construction, the Pier joins 19 other new parks, museums, theaters and other spaces—including Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium and Washington, DC’s National Native American Veterans Memorial—to be voted on by the public. The only other Florida attraction on the list is the Classic Car Museum of St. Augustine, which opened in early June.

The 10Best website allows voters to “explore” each attraction through photos and information before making their choice; anyone can vote once per day, until voting closes at noon on Monday, December 21.

10Best is USA Today’s travel- and listicle-centric arm, highlighting food, culture, arts and attractions in various cities and communities around the world. The nominees for its Readers’ Choice poll categories were chosen “by an expert panel in an editorial review.”
