Allan Dodsworth has five children and had a tough year financially due to the pandemic.

Dodsworth got in contact with Operation Homefront to ask for some help with much-needed home repairs. Months later, the group worked to orchestrate a new roof for the family home.

“We’re seeing families that have been furloughed,  we’re seeing families who have lost employment altogether,” explained Katie Rivera with Operation Homefront. “Businesses are shutting down so people can’t return to work and we’re seeing cases where veterans can’t get benefits because of the backlog from the pandemic.”

That’s why they were happy to step in and be able to assists the Dodsworths using community donations.

Operation Homefront, a nonprofit that works to help military families thrive in their communities, teamed up with the Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project to make it possible.

On Tuesday morning, the team at Gale Force Roofing & Restoration which acts as a contractor for the project, was working to strip shingles and replace the roof.

The Owens Corning Roof Deployment Project has provided new roofs for 225 military members since its inception in 2016.
