TAMPA, Fla. — The vaccine site at University Mall in Tampa is moving to the area near Raymond James Stadium.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management said the move will happen sometime next week.

According to Spectrum Bay News 9 partner newspaper the Tampa Bay Times, the new vaccination site will be across from Raymond James Stadium, where the old Tampa Bay Mall used to sit. An entrance is planned off Himes Avenue.

What You Need To Know

It's part of an effort to address logistical challenges the University Mall site was experiencing.

Thousands of people were backed up for miles waiting to get their vaccines. Officials also said there was confusion about appointments for second doses.

Vaccinations have continued at the site since then, and the process has been going smoother.

If you have an appointment for next week, officials say it will be honored at the new location.

The relocation will not impact COVID-19 testing services.
