PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Pasco County Schools announced Thursday a plan to hold in-person graduation ceremonies this year in school stadiums.

School officials said the plan was necessary when the district learned that the Yuengling Center at the University of South Florida will not be available for the graduation ceremonies in June.

The ceremonies will be similar to the in-person events held for Pasco graduates last year, however, each graduate will be now be allowed four guests, instead of the two permitted last year. While last year's guests were seated on the field with the graduate, this year, only two guests will be allowed on the field, and the other two will be seated in the bleachers. The clusters of three people on the field will be socially distanced from each other.

“We know how important it is to the graduates to walk across the stage and receive their diploma in person. And we know how important it is to have family there to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Kurt Browning, Pasco Superintendent of Schools. “This plan makes that possible while keeping everyone safe.”
