PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — The Pasco County Schools Superintendent Kurt Browning announced Tuesday in an online video statement that the school district will not offer MySchool online learning for the 2021-2022 school year

Browning said the decision was made based on recent positive trends that there will no longer be a need for MySchool online learning next year and that the vast majority of students will be back in the classroom.

Browning also noted that the Florida Department of Education only authorized Florida school systems to offer MySchool online-type options for the 2020-2021 school year.

"Current indications are that such programs will not be authorized by the state for the 2021-2022 school year," Browning said in the video statement. "In addition, the number of positive COVID-19 cases involving our students or staff have decreased dramatically since the high marks of January."

However, the school district said it will continue to offer Pasco eSchool, along with traditional learning, for the next school year.

The Pasco County School District continues to monitor the number of cases in schools and the community. Browning also said the school district has been able to vaccinate thousands of school employees.
