  •  Scott Leavitt's Lakeland home was destroyed in a tornado in December 2020

  •  With help from the community, a new home is being built for him in the same location

  • Leavitt hopes to move into his new house by the end of the summer

“It’s amazing, absolutely amazing,” said Scott Leavitt.

He will never forget the twister that destroyed his house on Gibson Shores Drive in December 2020.

“It definitely changed my life in a couple of seconds,” Leavitt said.

Since then, he has been working with builders to construct a new place in the same location.

“They’re building a very good, sturdy house here,” Leavitt said.

Leavitt said he is amazed at how quickly the house is being built, and is overwhelmed by all the support he has received.

“You meet a lot of good people and you don’t really think they’re out there anymore, but they are,” he said. “And they help you out and they don’t ask for anything in return, and that’s real nice.”

Leavitt hopes to move into his new house by the end of the summer.
