ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's office is asking residents for help after a Tampa woman's body was found on fire near The Sunshine Skyway Bridge rest stop last night.

Investigators have not given the victim's name due to Marsy's Law, but have identified her as a woman in her 30s who worked security at The Beach Walk Condominiums in Tampa.

Deputies say they got a call from the victim's relative around 8:00pm Wednesday night when she didn't come home from working security at the complex. At the same time, St. Petersburg authorities had just discovered the body.

Investigators are trying to fill in the blanks between the condominiums and the Skyway Bridge Rest Area where the woman's body was found burned. The sheriff's office is asking for help.

"The people who live in that apartment complex are the eyes and ears for our sheriff’s office. They may have been outside of their car in the parking lot at the time this occurred" said Crystal Clark, spokeswoman for Hillsborough County Sheriff's office. "They may have looked out of the window and seen something suspicious. All of that is what can help us solve this case faster."

Residents say the woman had only been working security for a few months and that this whole incident has left them stunned.

"Gotta keep good people around you and keep yourself protected out there no matter where you live" said Beach Walk Condominiums resident Laura Mataitis.
