TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough County employees will now receive $500 and two vacation days if they show proof of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

County officials sent an email detailing the new incentive to workers on Monday.

What You Need To Know

Starting in October, employees who don’t want the vaccine will have to submit a weekly test and have to wear a mask at work.

Unvaccinated employees can also submit proof of COVID-19 antibodies on a monthly basis without the weekly testing.

Last week, Hillsborough County had around 1,000 employees test positive for COVID-19, but more than 2,000 were quarantined.

The county has already required workers hired after August 30 to be fully vaccinated.
