LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — Hundreds of unique antique vendors call Renninger's in Mount Dora their home base. It's one of the largest and most unique antiques centers you can find in the state, which is exactly why Spectrum News went to explore it in this week's Florida on a Tankful, where we introduce you to one of the center's thriving vendors.

What You Need To Know

Inside a locked glass case you can find cups and plates, an array of items that to the untrained eye might all look like trinkets, but to the trained eyes of Allan Arthur, they're treasures from around the globe.

Inside his shop you can find antiques and tribal arts from all around the world, all of which Allan has been collecting and expanding his knowledge on for more than 30 years.

First starting his career as an antique dealer in Atlanta back in 1988,  he now calls a little corner spot at Renningers his home base, where aside from tribal arts there's something specific he's dedicated his life as an arts dealer to: oriental rugs. He's collected them from all over the world, and Allan knows just about everything about them from their textures down to specific knotting techniques.

He's so well-versed in rugs from around the world he even co-researched a book that took five years to complete, "Woven Structures," a book dedicated to textile analysis.

This is just a glimpse into how seriously the dealers at Renninger's take their jobs. Allan is a perfect example of the interesting people and incredible finds you can search for at this one-of-akind destination.

Renninger's Vintage Antique Center is open weekends on Saturday and Sunday. They also host an Antiques and Collectors Extravaganza that runs three whole days several times a year. The next one will be held the weekend of February 18 through the 20For more information, head to their website.
