PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — Mental health in the Black community is a pressing issue. A local mental health and wellness facility in south St. Pete used the attention-grabbing date of 2/22/22 to draw attention to the issue.

The campaign is called "Liberated and Living Well." Their focus is mental health in the Black community and elevating the many ways people define, create and experience safety and wellbeing.

It’s a campaign Lola Morgan bought into. She said her life experiences inspires her dedication to empower the Black community.

“It’s important for the stigma needs to be washed away that we can’t take care of ourselves or nurture or find some sense of safety and wellbeing in our own bodies and our own minds. Mental health is an even axis and it is our divine right to be able to nurture our self in those type of ways,” Morgan said.

The national campaign kicked off at 2:22 p.m. on 2/22/22 on 22nd Street South in St. Pete. To learn more, click here.
