POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Multiple Interstate 4 lanes have reopened after all lanes were closed in both directions in Polk City Thursday morning after a fiery crash involving a semi-truck.

I-4's eastbound lanes reopened to traffic just after 7:15 a.m. Westbound lanes began reopening just before noon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 3:35 a.m., involving a semi and several other vehicles. The overturned semi, resulting fire and lingering smoke kept morning traffic snarled in both directions for several hours.

According to Polk County Fire Rescue, diesel fuel was spilled in the area of the crash and took hours to clean up.

Two people were injured in the crash, according to authorities.
