TAMPA, Fla. — A heads up for drivers leaving Tampa International Airport Sunday night.

Beginning at 10 p.m., there will be new traffic pattern.

The airport exit ramp onto the Veterans Expressway will be closed. This temporary closure is necessary as crews widen and reconstruct westbound SR 60.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the new traffic pattern will be in place through the end of October.

Drivers needing to access the Veterans Expressway will continue left at the fork onto the westbound SR 60 ramp towards Clearwater.

Electronic message boards and signage will assist drivers.

The $45.5 million project is adding one westbound lane to SR 60 (Memorial Highway) from George J. Bean Parkway to the Courtney Campbell Causeway and constructing a new flyover ramp from westbound SR 60 to the Independence Parkway near Tampa International Airport.

Construction is expected to be done by spring of 2025.
