ORLANDO, Fla. — The northern part of International Drive is often considered a corridor to get to the outlets. But that's changing.

We're keeping an eye on all of the new discoveries in that part of town.

Here are five things you need to know about its new momentum:

1. More attractions.

The Orlando Forum’s "Rock Dinner Show" is now open, a few blocks south of Universal’s Endless Summer’s parking garage. This is Central Florida’s only Vegas-style celebrity tribute show with a live band, actors, and aerial artists. “I've always believed, ‘never been done before,’ ‘first time ever,’ Orlando Forum managing partner Kanwar Bhutani told us. "That's what I get my hands into."

2. New tours.

Another attraction new to north I-Drive is Air Force Fun Helicopter Tours. It's located in one of the Orlando Crossings shopping plazas. The tours give you a bird's-eye view of our theme parks. Developer Alejandro Pezzini, AMP Group CEO, says about the opening of Endless Summer Resort across the street: "You don't see a lot of foot traffic in the area, so I think the foot traffic is going to make a significant difference for the tenants."

3. Current merchants.

Existing businesses like Coco Thai restaurant and Lost Caverns Adventure Golf are anxiously awaiting for more hotels to open on north I-Drive. Eudy Paredes, a supervisor at Lost Caverns, is stoked that Endless Summer Resort practically kisses up against the mini golf course. "They're going to be looking over our course,” he said, looking out at the hotel (opening summer 2019).

4. Easier access.

Also on north I-Drive, a Bahama Breeze and Longhorn Steakhouse have recently opened near the Grand National Drive Overpass, which goes over I-4. The overpass makes it easier for pedestrians and drivers to get to the I-Drive outlets and Fun Spot from Universal Orlando Resort.

5. More hotels.

Pezzini says a Hyatt House at 5374 International Drive should be open by early next year.
