In an effort to get people excited about voting and keeping them informed, Faith in Florida partnered up with local churches across the state.

What You Need To Know

Souls to the Polls is all about encouraging people to vote by providing transportation.

Without transportation, it's hard for some people to go to their local voting precinct and Souls to the Polls is helping voters like Rose Wellmaker with transportation, making the voting process as convenient as possible.

“I appreciate it very much, and now I don't have to come back on November 3rd,” Wellmaker said.

Brevard County Souls to the Polls Organizer for Greater Allen A.M.E Church Rev. Lorenzo Laws says they are also picking people up from their homes.

“Whatever means necessary to get people to the polls,” Laws explained.

The Florida Division of Elections latest numbers show that more than 5,288,965 have either voted by mail or voted in person early like Wellmaker.

“We are going to continue to provide transportation all the way until November 3rd, the day of election,” he adds.

This is part of the 80 Souls to the Polls events Faith in Florida is holding across the state with the support of 800 churches. There were events in Brevard, Indian River, Martin and Volusia counties.

“Very important for the election to get a good president and everybody get along, and we get a good city commission,” Wellmaker says.
